You are going to continue with this pattern now, until you have a disc that can fit over the top of your head. Continue to work until you are happy with the size of the disc, as this is the top of your hat. When you are, you can begin the decrease row.

Chain 1, turn, and single crochet in each of the next 4 stitches, then skip the next stitch. Single crochet in each of the next 4 stitches, then skip the next stitch. Single crochet in each of the next 4 stitches, then skip the next stitch. You are going to continue this all the way around the hat.

Join with a slip stitch, chain 1, turn, and work 1 row of single crochet normally.

Chain 1, turn, and single crochet in each of the next 4 stitches, then skip the next stitch. Single crochet in each of the next 4 stitches, then skip the next stitch. Now, continue with normal single crochet around the brim of the hat until you have reached your preferred length.
